Upgrading an indexing conveyor-based assembly line to an Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) based transfer system can provide significant enhancements to your ability to meet operational challenges. These benefits generally fall into two categories: flexibility and productivity.
Because the routing of an AGV based conveying system can be easily modified by the relocation of the magnetic tracking tapes that the AGV follows, changes to the floor space or the numbers of assembly stations can be readily accomplished. This allows the operations management to react quickly to expanded product assembly requirements and/or to adjust floor space usage. This added flexibility can increase productivity and profits by empowering the fast & less expensive implementations of the changes.
